One year older and wiser too...

....or so the song goes.  Although every year I never feel any wiser....

Yes, I just celebrated another birthday last week.  My two favourite men treated me like a queen and I got lots of birthday wishes from the best family and friends ever.  Although the day started off with a San Antonio size thunderstorm, I enjoyed myself all the same.  My sweet, sweet husband even made me a birthday cake....carrot cake, one of my favourites!!

I smudged the icing a little but it still looked great! (And tasted great too!)

Did I mention that we also celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary at the beginning of the month?!  Yes, celebrations all around.

Noah has found a new love of washing dishes.  I let him do it once with me and now he wants to do it every dinner time.  Not that I would mind at all, its just, well he is only 2 and the dishes I gave him were already washed and I don't fancy mopping up the floor each night either!! :)  We did however get some photos of our cute boy to remind him when he's older that he does in fact LOVE doing the dishes!

I have been pretty busy this past month, as I was released as ward choir director (although I am still doing it till the end of December....) and called as the Primary Music Director.  Boy, do I LOVE my new calling!  It's a lot of hard work....what with there being 100+ children in primary and trying to keep them engaged and loving the music we sing each week for 20 minutes.  Thank goodness for the Internet, bloggers and great ideas.  I have photographed most of the stuff I have been making for them....

Giving thanks from me to the primary for singing so well each week!  (And yes I did make 108 of them!)

Our Thankful Turkey "Teddy"
The children wrote on the feathers what they were thankful for and a song that went with it!

Primary Colour Traffic Light
We learnt Our Primary Colours a few weeks back.  Once the song was perfected we had some fun with the traffic light.  Every time it shone red ~ we didn't sing, yellow ~ we hummed and blue ~ we sang loud.  It was actually really fun and I plan to use it on other songs too!
Rhythm box.....instruments always go down well with children!

Ok, so this is Eddie the Elephant ~ my conducting aid!  Hence there is no trunk, your arm being the trunk!  I taught all the primary how to conduct a 2/2 with Eddie.  The kids had a go and even the older primary loved it!
So there are some of my crazy ideas for you!  We are playing battleships this week too!!  Super fun! Even I'm excited about this one.

I think that's everything, apart from my belly getting bigger, I'm 22 weeks now and look like I have a football (soccer ball) stuffed up my top, we're all doing great and looking forward to Thanksgiving this Thursday.  Have a great Thanksgiving (for all of those who celebrate it, my USA friends)! And ciao for now :)

hey elodie - happy birthday! and congrats on your blooming family, looks like Mathias knows how to treat you well :D

love the teaching techniques you came up with for teaching music to children. I'm always looking for new ideas, so may be stealing some of your visual props for my nursery Circle Time (though my students are 1-2!)

Glad that you are keeping busy and well, love x
