100th post!
I suppose I should make my 100th post something exciting, but seeing as its only my 2nd post of the year and we are already over half way done with December, there really isn't much hope of me catching up and making this post amazing. So I will just pick from December and start with Christmas...not a bad place to start my 100th post right? :)
I have been busy with Christmas. I am currently the primary president in our ward at church. (To all my non LDS friends, this means I get to teach around 40 cute children for a few hours every Sunday and at other fun activities we choose to do for them.) One of those fun activities being a Christmas party for all of our church members within the area I live. I had some great help from some amazing people and we managed to pull together a fun filled night which included food (so much good food!!) a small craft and of course a nativity done by the children. Everything went so well and I do hope that everyone who came had a wonderful time?! I know I sure enjoyed planning it! :)
That night helped me focus on the true meaning of Christmas. I know that December can be a very busy month for some people. What with shopping for presents, baking, church/work parties, carol concerts...and everything else, that sometimes its hard to just stop and think. What is Christmas really all about? Why do we even celebrate Christmas? After my hectic, but fun church Christmas party I sat done with my husband to talk about the true mean of Christmas. It was nice to sit and reflect. The nativity I did with the primary children was called 'picture a Christmas'. We had a very simple script which was read by some lovely ladies who helped us 'picture' the scenes of Christmas; the angels singing 'glory to God on high'. The wise men. The shepherds. Joseph. The mother, Mary. Jesus. I couldn't think of a better way to start my Christmas season (watching the children in this nativity), after all Christmas does begin with Christ!
I just love this quote from a leader of our church, President Dieter F Uchtdorf: “If we notice that planning for parties and scrambling for presents begin to detract from the peaceable message of Jesus Christ and distance us from the gospel He preached, let us take a step back, slow down a little, and reconsider what matters most.”
I am glad to say that after the party/nativity I was able to slow down and reconsider what really does matter most. I love Christmas time. I love spending time with my family and friends. I love seeing the joyful faces of those who receive gifts from the heart. I love that I know Christmas is a time for sharing, giving, joy and love.
"Christmas is the spirit of giving without a thought of getting. It is happiness because we see joy in people. It is forgetting self and finding time for others. It is discarding the meaningless and stressing the true values. It is peace because we have found peace in the Savior’s teachings. It is the time we realize most deeply that the more love is expended, the more there is of it for others." President Thomas S Monson (President of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints)

Merry Christmas to all our friends and family. May the spirit of Christmas ring deep in your hearts and you enjoy every minute of it with those you love!
Finally for some photographs! (sorry they're not the best, I took them at the practice evening; I didn't have time on the actual night for photos!)
